the role of a bridge structural engineer is to work as a lead engineer for preparing plans and designs for bridge structures.
the bridge structural engineer will perform a variety of tasks which may include the plans and designs of structures and facilities such as highway bridges, rail bridges, and canal bridges structures.
key responsibilities
• performs engineering tasks on assigned projects, including bridges and transportation structures
• assists team in preparing construction contract documents and plans and reports
• conducts basic interpretations of drawings, codes, and other similar materials
• guide subordinate team to perform field work as directed as required
• performs basic calculations using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software
• assists with engineering duties on projects of various complexity
• attends and assists in client/contractor/stakeholder meetings to gain a better understanding of client’s goals
• monitors own work to ensure keeping on set schedule
• utilizes relevant software programs to prepare exhibits and complex working drawings. continues to develop skills using software programs for design and/or drafting
• performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned
• review and approves the final drawings

• general understanding of general concepts of relevant areas of design
• technical experience with staad, ansys or comparable cadd software and any other relevant design software
• knowledge of calculations performed by software
• proficient in microsoft (ms) office suite
• ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity and innovation
