As a Steel Fixer, your main role will be to work with steel bars and mesh for constructing buildings, bridges, and other structures. You will ensure that all reinforced steel is properly placed and secured in accordance with engineering specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reading Blueprints: You will read and interpret construction drawings and blueprints to understand how and where to place steel reinforcements.
- Cutting Steel Bars: You will cut steel bars to the right lengths as per the specifications provided in the blueprints.
- Bending Steel: You will bend steel bars using hand tools or machinery to ensure they fit correctly into the required locations.
- Fixing Steel Bars: You will place and tie the steel reinforcements together using wires, ensuring they are secure and stable for concrete pouring.
- Quality Check: You will conduct checks on your work to make sure the steel is positioned accurately and meets structural integrity standards.
- Maintaining Safety Standards: You will adhere to safety protocols and procedures to keep yourself and your coworkers safe while working on-site.
Required Skills and Expectations:
Candidates should have a minimum education of 10th pass and be willing to learn on the job. Basic knowledge of construction practices is preferred, but no prior experience is necessary. You should be physically fit to perform manual labor tasks and be comfortable working at heights or in various weather conditions. Attention to detail and the ability to work well in a team will contribute to your effectiveness in this role, along with a commitment to safety and quality.
