core responsibilities
1. design and documentation
lead concept development: lead the conceptualization and development of innovative, functional, and aesthetically pleasing interior design concepts that align with the client's vision and project objectives.
space planning: develop effective and efficient space plans, furniture layouts, and overall design schemes.
material selection and specification: select, specify, and procure furniture, fixtures, and equipment (ff&e), as well as materials, finishes, and color schemes, ensuring they meet the design intent, budget, and durability requirements.
technical documentation: oversee and develop detailed design drawings, construction documents, 3d renderings, and specifications using cad/bim software, ensuring accuracy and compliance with building codes and regulations.
quality control: conduct regular design reviews to maintain the highest standards of design quality and creativity throughout the project lifecycle.
2. project management and coordination
project oversight: manage all aspects of the design process, from initial client consultation and brief development through construction administration (ca) and final project handover.
budget and timeline management: manage and monitor project budgets, schedules, and resource allocation to ensure projects are completed on time and within financial constraints.
stakeholder coordination: act as the primary design point of contact and coordinate seamlessly with architects, engineers, contractors, vendors, and external consultants.
site visits: conduct site inspections and factory inspections as needed to oversee project progress and ensure the successful execution of design concepts.
3. client and business development
client relationship management: work closely with clients to define project requirements, present design proposals (including mood boards and presentations), obtain approvals, and maintain strong, positive relationships.
presentation skills: effectively articulate design ideas, technical decisions, and project status updates to clients and senior management.
business support: contribute to business development efforts, proposal creation, and fee development as required.
4. leadership and team mentorship
team leadership: coordinate and lead the internal design team, delegating tasks and providing clear direction.
mentorship: supervise, mentor, and provide constructive feedback to junior and intermediate designers to foster professional development and a collaborative, creative work environment.
standards and best practices: implement and maintain design standards, best practices, and company procedures.
