Key Responsibilities
Component Assembly: Assemble basic mechanical parts, structures, and sub-assemblies using standard fasteners, rivets, bolts, and hand tools according to instructions.
Material Preparation: Perform foundational bench fitting operations including manual filing, hacksawing, deburring, and grinding to prepare metal edges for structural alignment or welding.
Drilling & Tapping: Safely operate pedestal or hand drilling machines to make holes in metal workpieces and perform manual or machine tapping for threads.
Basic Measurement Checks: Check component dimensions before and after fitting using basic measuring instruments like steel rulers, measuring tapes, and standard vernier calipers.
Assisting Senior Staff: Assist High-Skill Fitters and Maintenance Engineers during major machinery overhauls, equipment installations, or complex alignment setups.
Material Handling & Loading: Move raw metal stocks, castings, or finished sub-assemblies to designated work stations or storage bays safely using basic shop-floor material handling equipment.
Shop Floor Housekeeping (5S): Maintain a clean and organized work bench, ensure proper storage of personal tools, and strictly follow workplace safety and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) guidelines.
