Patient Assessment
Evaluate patients with breathing or cardiopulmonary disorders
Assess lung function, oxygenation, and ventilation status
Review medical history, lab results, ABGs, and imaging reports
Respiratory Care & Treatment
Administer oxygen therapy and aerosol medications
Perform chest physiotherapy and airway clearance techniques
Manage and monitor ventilator support (invasive & non-invasive)
Assist with intubation and extubation procedures
Ventilator & Airway Management
Set up, operate, and monitor mechanical ventilators
Adjust ventilator settings based on patient condition and ABG results
Ensure airway patency (suctioning, tracheostomy care)
Diagnostic Testing
Conduct pulmonary function tests (PFTs)
Perform arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling and analysis
Monitor pulse oximetry and capnography
Emergency & Critical Care Support
Respond to respiratory emergencies and code situations
Provide life-support measures (CPR, bag-mask ventilation)
Support ICU and emergency department patients
Patient Education
Educate patients and families on:
Inhaler and nebulizer use
Breathing exercises
Smoking cessation
Home oxygen and ventilator care
Neonatal & Pediatric Care (if applicable)
Provide respiratory support to premature and pediatric patients
Manage neonatal ventilators and CPAP
Assist in neonatal resuscitation
Infection Control & Safety
Follow strict infection control protocols
Maintain and sterilize respiratory equipment
Ensure patient and staff safety
Documentation & Compliance
Accurately document patient assessments, treatments, and responses
Maintain compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards
Participate in audits and quality improvement initiatives
Collaboration & Teamwork
Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and care planning
