Job Description
The Refrigeration Engineer will be responsible for the proper management and maintenance of all over 15 Seychelles Fishing Authority (SFA) owned refrigeration facilities all around Seychelles. The Refrigeration Engineer will ensure that all refrigeration engineering services (Maintain, supervise, design and inspect, develop manuals/SOPs and troubleshoot problems with complex refrigeration systems). A key role of the Refrigeration Engineer will include training and mentoring (skills transfer) of the SFA Refrigeration Team to assist the company in strengthening its internal capabilities of managing and maintaining all its refrigeration facilities.

• Better control of expenses related to maintenance of refrigeration facilities.
• Having a modern and more efficient systems to monitor equipment performance.
• Improved efficiency in operating and maintaining all SFA refrigeration facilities.
• Develop more effective SOPs, protocols and policies for better operations.
• Develop refrigeration asset renewal plan for all refrigeration facilities.
• Train and mentor, the internal refrigeration technical team to be able to handle all the refrigeration needs of the company.
• Develop training manuals for the internal refrigeration technical team.
• Enforce all applicable Health and Safety procedures related to the refrigeration facilities and directive from Head of Department, Deputy CEO, CEO.
Education/Qualification Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in mechanical or refrigeration engineering, with a minimum of 10 years working experience in the field of refrigeration engineering.
Experience and Skills
Experience:
• Sound knowledge and competences working with the following make of industrial ice-making machines: MYCOM (Japan), Ziegra (Germany) and SNOWKEY (France).
• Sound knowledge and competence with: MYCOM, Bitzer compressors.
• Sound knowledge and experience working with ammonia and R404 A refrigerants.
• Advanced knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration systems.
• Experience working with a wide range of equipment including compressor, condenser, evaporators, heat exchangers, pumps, valves and other components to ensure that these systems operate properly.
• Awareness in Ammonia safety and all protocol and procedures.
• Experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office, and other relevant software.
Skills (Knowledge and abilities):
• Knowledge of the principles and techniques of refrigeration equipment including compressors, condensers and electrical motors.
• Knowledge of the temperatures required for maintaining perishables (primarily ice and fish) and other commodities in proper condition to prevent loss.
• Knowledge of the construction methods particularly as they relate to the installation of refrigeration equipment and cooling systems.
• Good mechanical skills and excellent troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to design refrigeration installations and to estimate construction, installation and operating costs.
• Ability to determine repair and maintenance needs and inspect completed work to determine if it meets operating and safety standards.
• Ability to make repair and adjustments to refrigeration equipment.
• Ability to read, write, understand and follow simple oral and written instructions.
• Ability to read and write in English and produce written reports in English.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all persons contacted during the course of work.
• Ability to lift 32Kg (70 pounds) or more.

Key Performance Indicators
Supervise, train and mentor Refrigeration Team (Technical)
• Responsible for the overall maintenance and repair of all the ice machines, Blast Freezer and Cold store at the SFA which include the Preventive, Monthly and Annual maintenances.
• Work in close collaboration with the Assistant Manager Refrigeration and Refrigeration Technical Team.
• Monitor all equipment performance, identifying potential problems with operation or maintenance, and making repairs as needed.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot and supervise the technical team to undertake the required maintenance and repair work.
• Makes periodic inspection of plant and operating equipment to determine maintenance of proper temperatures, equipment to ensure proper working conditions and general operating efficiency of the refrigeration facilities.
• Ensure supervision of all maintenances and repairs work and proper logging of all work undertaken.
• Ensure that all the refrigeration facilities are in good working condition and meet at least 80 % production efficiency.
• Assist with the building up of stock for a list of critical spares and parts.
• Build the competencies of the Refrigeration Technical Team in the various make of machines and refrigerants.
• Prepare a comprehensive Training Programme in consultation with the Manager Facilities and Assistant Manager Refrigeration Engineer with set objectives and targets.
• Impart both formal and informal training to the Refrigeration Technical team.
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of learning and training as to ensure that learning has been assimilated.
• Provide monthly report and feedback on the main KPIs.
• Provide mentorship to the Assistant Manager Refrigeration Engineer.
• Ensuring that the Technical Team acquire the expertise and sufficient capabilities to perform the work required repair and maintenances at the end of set period.
• Any other related duties that may be required.
