Key Responsibilities:
1. Implement and maintain radiation safety programs: Develop and ensure compliance with radiation safety policies and procedures to minimize exposure risks to employees and the public.
2. Conduct radiation safety training: Provide training sessions to staff on safe handling of radioactive materials, radiation protection techniques, and emergency procedures.
3. Monitor radiation levels: Regularly measure and monitor radiation levels in designated areas to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
4. Investigate incidents: Investigate and report any radiation incidents or accidents, and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
5. Maintain records: Keep detailed records of radiation sources, exposure levels, inspections, and training sessions to ensure documentation compliance.
6. Liaise with regulatory agencies: Serve as the main point of contact for interactions with regulatory agencies regarding radiation safety matters.
Required Skills and Expectations:
1. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Health Physics, Radiation Protection, or Nuclear Engineering.
2. Certification as a Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) is preferred.
3. Strong knowledge of radiation safety regulations and best practices.
4. Excellent communication skills to effectively train staff and communicate with regulatory agencies.
5. Ability to work independently and make decisions regarding radiation safety protocols.
6. Experience in conducting radiation surveys and using radiation detection equipment.
