• Conduct comprehensive eye and vision examinations.
• Assess visual acuity, refraction and binocular vision.
• Diagnose refractive errors such as myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism.
• Prescribe and fit spectacles, contact lenses and other visual aids.
• Use specialised equipment to examine internal and external eye structures.
• Detect signs of glaucoma, cataracts, retinal disorders and other eye conditions.
• Refer patients to ophthalmologists or other medical specialists when necessary.
• Provide pre-operative and post-operative support for eye procedures.
• Educate patients about eye health, lens care and preventive measures.
• Maintain accurate patient records, prescriptions and examination findings.
• Monitor patients with diabetes or other conditions affecting vision.
• Ensure proper cleaning, calibration and maintenance of diagnostic equipment.
• Follow infection-control, patient-safety and professional standards.
• Coordinate with ophthalmologists, opticians and other healthcare professionals.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with applicable healthcare regulations.
