key responsibilities and duties
1. design and development
conceptualization and design: research, design, and develop new mechanical components, machines, and systems (., engines, turbines, hvac systems, industrial machinery, robotic devices).
computer-aided design (cad): create and analyze detailed 2d and 3d models and technical drawings using cad software (., autocad, solidworks).
analysis and simulation: use engineering analysis tools, such as finite element analysis (fea) and computational fluid dynamics (cfd), to simulate and predict system behavior under various conditions (stress, strain, temperature, fluid flow).
specification: produce detailed specifications for materials, components, and required manufacturing processes.
2. testing and analysis
prototyping: develop, build, and test prototypes of devices and systems.
data interpretation: analyze and interpret test data and results to evaluate product performance, reliability, and safety.
modification: recommend and implement design modifications to improve product performance, eliminate malfunctions, and reduce costs.
failure investigation: investigate equipment failures, diagnose faulty operations, and recommend effective remedial actions.
3. project management and collaboration
project planning: assess project requirements, estimate budgets, set timelines, and develop project plans.
cross-functional teamwork: collaborate effectively with engineers from other disciplines (., electrical, manufacturing), designers, contractors, and suppliers.
technical documentation: prepare and present technical reports, documentation, blueprints, and operational manuals.
compliance: ensure designs and final products comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and quality controls.
4. manufacturing and production
process oversight: oversee the selection of manufacturing methods and monitor all aspects of the production process.
continuous improvement: design and implement cost-effective equipment modifications to improve production efficiency, safety, and reliability.
maintenance: oversee the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of machinery and equipment.
