Key Skills Required for a CNC OperatorTechnical Skills-Machine Operation:-Operating CNC Turning, VMC, HMC, and Milling machines.Understanding machine controls and functions.Drawing Reading:-Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T symbols.Measurement & Inspection:-Using Vernier Calipers, Micrometers, Height Gauges, Bore Gauges, and Dial Indicators.Conducting in-process and final inspections.Tool Knowledge:-Tool selection, tool offset setting, insert changing, and tool life monitoring.Programming Basics:-Understanding G-codes and M-codes.Editing programs for minor corrections.Machine Setup:-Workpiece clamping, fixture setting, zero setting, and job changeover.Quality Skills-Understanding Tolerances:-Maintaining dimensional accuracy as per drawing requirements.Problem Solving:-Identifying machining defects such as chatter marks, oversize/undersize dimensions, and surface finish issues.Safety Skills-Safety Awareness:-PPE usage (Safety Shoes, Goggles, Ear Plugs).Safe handling of cutting tools and machines.Behavioral Skills-5S & Discipline:-Workplace cleanliness and organization.Following SOPs and work instructions.Teamwork & Communication:-Coordinating with supervisors, quality inspectors, and maintenance teams.Continuous Learning:-Adapting to new machines, tools, and manufacturing processes.
