Job Summary:
The Laser Cutting Operator will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC laser cutting machines to produce high-quality metal or material components according to design specifications and production schedules. This role requires a strong understanding of laser cutting technology, material properties, precision measurement, and strict adherence to safety protocols.
Responsibilities:
Machine Setup and Operation: Set up and operate CNC laser cutting machines (., fiber laser, CO2 laser) according to job orders, including loading programs, selecting correct nozzles, gases, and laser parameters based on material type and thickness.
Material Handling: Safely load raw materials (., metal sheets, plates) onto the laser cutting machine bed and unload finished parts, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage or injury.
Program Management: Load, modify, and manage laser cutting programs (., G-code, DXF files) to ensure optimal cutting paths and material utilization.
Quality Control: Conduct in-process and post-cut inspections using precision measuring instruments (., calipers, micrometers, gauges) to verify part dimensions, cut quality, and adherence to drawing tolerances. Report any non-conformances.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Perform routine preventive maintenance on the laser cutting machine, including cleaning optics, nozzles, and ensuring proper gas levels. Identify and troubleshoot basic machine issues or cutting problems, escalating complex issues to maintenance or engineering.
Blueprint Reading: Accurately read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and CAD files to understand part geometries, dimensions, and material specifications.
Nesting Optimization: Understand basic nesting principles to maximize material yield and minimize scrap.
Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and machine-specific safety procedures, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate production logs, including job details, material usage, machine settings, and any issues encountered or resolved.
Work Area Maintenance: Keep the laser cutting workstation and surrounding area clean, organized, and free from hazards.
Team Collaboration: Work effectively with production supervisors, quality inspectors, and other team members to ensure smooth workflow and meet production deadlines.
