Job Description

assembly and fabrication: fit and assemble structural frameworks and parts from raw materials or pre-cut components. they use a variety of tools to precisely measure, cut, and shape parts to ensure they fit together perfectly.

reading blueprints: interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and engineering diagrams to understand the specifications of a project and determine the correct assembly sequence.

maintenance and repair: disassemble, inspect, and repair machinery or equipment to fix malfunctions or replace worn-out parts. they are skilled at troubleshooting mechanical issues and ensuring machines are in proper working condition.

welding and machining: while not always the primary focus, many fitters have skills in welding, grinding, and operating basic machine shop equipment like lathes and drills to modify parts as needed.
