Key responsibilities of an Electric Gas Welder:

Reading and interpreting blueprints:

Accurately read and understand technical drawings, including weld symbols, to determine the required weld type, size, and location on the workpiece.

Material preparation:

Clean and prepare metal surfaces to be welded, including grinding, removing impurities, and ensuring proper fitment.

Setting up welding equipment:

Select the appropriate welding machine settings, gas mixture, and electrode size based on the metal type and welding application.

Welding operations:

Perform welding procedures using an electric arc, precisely controlling the heat and movement of the welding torch to create strong, consistent welds.

Quality inspection:

Visually inspect welds for defects like porosity, slag inclusion, or improper penetration, and perform necessary rework if needed.

Maintaining equipment:

Regularly clean and maintain welding equipment, including the torch, gas lines, and power supply, to ensure optimal performance.

Safety compliance:

Adhere to all safety procedures, including wearing appropriate protective gear like gloves, welding helmet, and safety glasses.
