as a fire safety vehicle mechanical equipment technician, you will

inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, repair, overhaul and adjust all common and

specialist systems for fire safety vehicles.

• ideally, the candidate will possess knowledge of diesel and gasoline

engine inspection, troubleshooting, repair, overhaul and testing. most

commonly used engines, including detroit diesel, cummins and

caterpillar.

• you will work in specialist engineering workshops, where you will

carry out equipment servicing, investigate faults and make repairs as

you find them.

• these workshops have all the latest equipment to carry out

maintenance, rectification and use technically advanced test

equipment for fault diagnosis and analysis of a wide range of engine

management systems.

• the candidate will have the ability to read and write technical english

manuals and reports.

the candidate for the fire truck mechanic position will have the

following knowledge:

• engine overhauling { detroit diesel, caterpillar, cummins}

• pneumatic system repairing {air cylinders, air valves}

• fire system {operation, repair, overhaul}

• brake system repairing {pneumatic air components}

• compressors

• transmission overhauling {allison, twin disc}

• heavy suspension repairing {planetary types}
