Core Responsibilities
The role is split into two distinct phases that must be executed with mathematical precision.
1. The Erection Phase (Construction)
Site Readiness: Verifying that the civil foundations (concrete bases) are ready and meet the technical specifications for the equipment.
Mechanical Assembly: Supervising the unloading, positioning, and assembly of heavy components (., turbines, boilers, solar trackers, or large transformers).
Piping & Cabling: Overseeing the installation of interconnecting pipes (for fluids/gas) and electrical cabling, ensuring they follow the P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagram).
Vendor Coordination: Working with various sub-contractors to ensure the assembly stays on schedule.
2. The Commissioning Phase (Testing)
Cold Commissioning: Testing systems without power or live materials (., checking for leaks, verifying cable continuity, or dry-running a motor).
Hot Commissioning: Running the system under actual operating conditions (introducing fuel, water, or electricity) to ensure it performs at the required efficiency.
PLC/SCADA Integration: Coordinating with automation engineers to ensure the control systems are communicating correctly with the hardware.
Performance Guarantee (PG) Tests: Running the plant at full capacity to prove it meets the output levels promised to the client.
3. Documentation & Safety
Handover: Preparing the final As-Built drawings and operation manuals for the client.
LOTO (Lockout/Tagout): Strictly enforcing safety protocols to ensure no one is injured during the transition from dead machinery to live systems.
