Diesel Mechanic (10-0 Years)

About the Role

InstaCrete is seeking an experienced Diesel & Hydraulic Mechanic to maintain and repair its mixer trucks, truck-mounted concrete boom pumps and associated batching plant equipment. The role requires strong heavy commercial vehicle repair skills, practical hydraulic troubleshooting experience and the ability to work independently. Candidates must have previous overseas work experience, preferably in Africa.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair diesel engines, cooling systems, fuel systems, clutches, gearboxes and drivetrains.

• Maintain and repair truck braking systems, air systems, steering, suspension, axles and differentials.

• Diagnose hydraulic faults on concrete mixer drums and concrete boom pumps, including pumps, motors, valves, cylinders, hoses and PTO drives.

• Service and repair concrete pump wear components, lubrication systems and associated mechanical assemblies.

• Troubleshoot vehicle starting, charging, wiring and basic electrical faults.

• Maintain batching plant mechanical equipment, including mixers, conveyors, screw conveyors, bearings, gearboxes, compressors and pneumatic systems.

• Carry out preventive maintenance and respond to breakdowns at the plant and customer sites.

• Identify required spare parts and maintain accurate servicing and repair records.

• Coordinate specialist electrical, electronic or PLC repairs with the relevant technicians.

• Ensure repairs are completed safely and equipment is properly checked before returning to service.

 

Candidate Requirements

• Trade qualification, ITI or diploma in Diesel Mechanics, Motor Vehicle Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

• Substantial hands-on experience maintaining heavy diesel trucks and construction equipment.

• Strong practical knowledge of hydraulic systems and fault diagnosis.

• Previous overseas employment experience; African experience preferred.

• Experience with HOWO/SINOTRUK trucks would be a strong advantage.

• Experience maintaining Putzmeister and Schwing concrete pumps and hydraulic mixer truck systems preferred.

• Experience with ready-mix concrete batching plant maintenance would be an advantage.

• Ability to interpret workshop manuals, hydraulic diagrams and basic wiring diagrams.

• Ability to communicate in English, organise maintenance priorities and work with limited supervision.

• A valid driving licence would be an advantage.
