Position In a challenging and multicultural environment, we are looking for an experienced Data Engineer specialized in Data Virtualization to join Data Analytics team of Digital Excellence Center department.
This person will be a part of a dynamic team, focused on massively improving the operational efficiency of the organization related to on-premises or on our hybrid platform. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented team-player to be part of a technology team that is responsible of a portfolio of solutions for various business lines of the bank (Risk, Finance, Compliance, Market Risk, Trade Finance, Operations, Advanced analytics tools evaluations).
Main responsibilities Main responsibilities of the role:
Design and Build Virtual Data Layers - Design logical data models and virtual views that integrate data from multiple sources (databases, APIs, cloud, files, etc.) without physically replicating the data.
Implement Data Integration via Virtualization - Connect, blend, and expose data from heterogeneous systems using data virtualization tools while ensuring security and governance.
Work with Business and Analytics Teams such as Architects, Data Scientists, Business Analysts and BI developers to deliver virtual dataset for their operational use.
Performance Tuning and Query Optimization Optimize virtualization layers for efficient query execution and caching strategies.
Security and Governance Implementation - Enforce row/column-level security, data masking, and role-based access controls in the virtual layer. Ensure compliance with data governance, lineage, and auditability standards.
Keep up the Data Virtualization Infrastructure - work with platform teams to administer, upgrade and study new features of data virtualization platform. Provide assistance and support for all expert consultations (L3 support).
Evaluate and Recommend Tools/Practices - stay updated on trends in data virtualization, data mesh and modern data stack. Recommend new pattern and practices to improve agility, performance and scalability.
Support agile data delivery - participate in agile ceremonies, deliver incremental virtual data sets aligned with user needs. Ensure CI/CD practices are setup and used on the platform.

Qualifications and Profile Must-have qualifications
At least 8+ years of experience on IT experience; 5+ years of experience in data engineering, data integration or related roles
Strong expertise in SQL across different platforms (., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc.).
Hands-on experience with at least one NoSQL database (., MongoDB, Cassandra, Couchbase).
Solid understanding of data modelling concepts both relational and non-relational.
Strong experience in data integration concepts such as ETL/ELT, APIs, federation, and streaming.
Proven ability to work with large-scale datasets, data performance optimization, and query tuning.
Experience in data security, governance, and role-based access control across data layers.
Familiarity with REST/SOAP APIs, JSON, XML, and integration with real-time or near-real-time sources.
Excellent problem-solving skills, communication, and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
Have a Bachelors / Masters in Information Technology / Computer Science, or related degree AND have a strong ethos of continuous learning. Preferred qualifications
Experience with Data Virtualization tools such as Denodo, Dremio, Starburst, or similar platforms.
Understanding of data mesh, data fabric, or logical data warehouse concepts.
Experience working in cloud environments (., Azure, AWS, GCP) and hybrid data architectures.
Exposure to containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
Familiarity with DevOps or CI/CD practices for data pipelines and virtual layer deployment.
Experience with metadata management, data catalogues, and lineage tools. Other Professional Skills and Mind-set
Proficiency Denodo Platform Certification (., Denodo Certified Developer/Architect).
Exposure to Agile delivery, product-oriented data architecture, or cross-domain data services.
