A CSSD Technician is responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing and safely distributing surgical instruments and medical equipment throughout the healthcare facility.
Key Responsibilities
• Collect contaminated instruments and equipment from hospital departments.
• Clean, disinfect, inspect and sterilize reusable medical instruments.
• Operate autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaners and sterilization equipment.
• Assemble, pack and label surgical instrument sets correctly.
• Monitor sterilization cycles and maintain accurate records.
• Conduct chemical and biological indicator tests.
• Store and distribute sterile supplies safely.
• Identify damaged instruments and report them for repair or replacement.
• Maintain strict separation between contaminated and sterile areas.
• Follow infection-control, hygiene and workplace-safety standards.
• Coordinate with operating theatres, wards and other departments.
• Maintain adequate stock of sterile instruments and consumables.
Requirements
• Diploma or certification in CSSD Technology or a related field
• Knowledge of sterilization methods and infection-control procedures
• Relevant hospital or CSSD experience preferred
• Attention to detail and good organizational skills
• Ability to operate sterilization equipment safely
• Willingness to work rotational shifts
