Key Responsibilities:
1. Sterilize instruments and equipment:
Ensure that all instruments and equipment used in medical procedures are properly sterilized to prevent infections and ensure patient safety.
2. Maintain inventory of supplies:
Keep track of stock levels for sterilization supplies such as disinfectants, cleaning agents, and instruments to ensure that there are an adequate supply at all times.
3. Perform sterilization processes:
Follow established protocols for sterilizing instruments and equipment using autoclaves, chemical disinfection, and other methods to meet industry standards.
4. Monitor sterilization equipment:
Regularly check and maintain sterilization equipment to ensure that they are functioning properly and calibration is up-to-date.
5. Adhere to safety protocols:
Strictly adhere to safety protocols and guidelines when handling hazardous materials, cleaning agents, and equipment to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
Required Skills and Expectations:
1. Diploma in a relevant field:
Possess a diploma in a related field such as sterilization technology, medical technology, or healthcare support services to demonstrate foundational knowledge.
2. Experience in CSSD operations:
Have at least 1-7 years of experience working in Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) operations to be familiar with industry practices and protocols.
3. Attention to detail:
Demonstrate strong attention to detail in monitoring sterilization processes, maintaining inventory, and following safety protocols to ensure quality and safety standards are met.
4. Ability to work in a team:
Collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals such as nurses, surgeons, and technicians to ensure smooth operations in the CSSD department.
