Urologist – Job Description

Job Title: Urologist / Consultant – Urology

Department: Urology / Surgery

Reports To: Medical Director / Head of Department

Location: Hospital / Multispeciality Clinic

Job Summary

The Urologist is responsible for diagnosing and treating diseases of the urinary tract and male reproductive system. The role includes outpatient consultations, performing urological surgeries, interpreting diagnostic tests, and providing comprehensive patient care with a focus on accuracy, safety, and clinical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Assessment

Examine patients and evaluate symptoms related to urinary system disorders.

Take detailed medical history and perform physical examinations.

Diagnose conditions such as kidney stones, urinary infections, prostate issues, bladder disorders, and male reproductive concerns.

Diagnostic Responsibilities

Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as ultrasound, CT scans, MRI, uroflowmetry, cystoscopy, PSA, urine analysis, etc.

Perform minimally invasive diagnostic procedures (., cystoscopy).

Surgical & Procedural Duties

Perform urological surgeries such as:

TURP, TURBT

PCNL, URS, RIRS

Kidney stone surgeries

Prostate surgeries

Urethral reconstruction

Laparoscopic urological procedures

Manage pre-operative and post-operative patient care.

Ensure adherence to surgical protocols and patient safety.

Treatment & Management

Develop personalized treatment and follow-up plans.

Prescribe medications, therapies, and lifestyle modifications.

Manage chronic urological conditions (prostate enlargement, urinary incontinence, infertility issues, etc.).

Handle emergency cases like urinary retention, renal colic, trauma, and acute infections.

Coordination & Documentation

Work closely with nephrologists, surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, and nursing staff.

Maintain accurate documentation of patient records, treatment plans, and surgical notes.

Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings when required.

Required Qualifications

MCh / DNB in Urology from a recognized institution.

Valid State Medical Council Registration.

Experience with advanced urological surgeries (preferred).
