Key Cargo Officer Responsibilities:
Cargo Handling & Storage: Supervises the safe loading, unloading, and stowage of cargo to prevent damage, ensuring proper segregation, especially for hazardous materials.
Documentation: Prepares and verifies all necessary shipping documents, including Air Waybills (AWB), dangerous goods declarations, and cargo manifests.
Safety & Compliance: Implements security measures in line with organizational and legal standards, reporting any breaches. Performs inspections and maintains safety standards during loading.
Coordination & Logistics: Liaises with stakeholders, such as customs officials, airlines, or shipping vendors, to ensure timely arrival and dispatch.
Reporting & Systems: Records cargo details in systems to track inventory, weight, and volume.
Damage/Discrepancy Reporting: Identifies and reports any discrepancies in cargo, such as missing or damaged goods, and manages customer inquiries
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Education: A diploma or degree is often required, along with knowledge of aviation or logistics software.
Experience: Previous experience in cargo operations, warehousing, or freight forwarding is usually preferred.
