Key Responsibilities
Documentation and Compliance: Preparing airway bills, cargo manifests, and customs documentation, adhering to all industry regulations.
Load Management: Compiling cargo load plans, determining the proper orientation and security of cargo on aircraft or ships.
Cargo Handling: Supervising the loading and unloading of cargo to ensure safe handling, especially for dangerous goods, live animals, or specialized cargo.
Safety and Security: Implementing safety protocols, inspecting for damaged goods, and ensuring compliance with airport/terminal security regulations.
Logistics Coordination: Liaising with freight forwarders, customs officials, and courier services to track shipments and resolve discrepancies (missing/damaged items).
Required Skills and Qualifications
Education: Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent; some positions prefer a bachelor's degree.
Experience: Previous experience in cargo operations, logistics, or ground handling is often preferred.
