biw engineer – doors & closures
responsibilities
- design and develop biw door and closure components using nx and industry methodologies.
- validate styling data against technical requirements and ensure integration feasibility.
- analyze and design seals, mechanisms, glass, hinges, handles, and related closure parts.
- define hinge axis and latch positions aligned with functional and packaging needs.
- create/validate master sections, conduct benchmarking, and develop concept proposals.
- perform packaging studies, interference checks, and create joining elements.
- collaborate with cross-functional teams (simulation, manufacturing, vehicle integration, corrosion protection).
- manage engineering changes, documentation, and present in project forums.
- drive cost reduction, weight optimization, and process improvement initiatives.
skills & experience
- strong product knowledge in biw (doors & closures).
- expertise in nx for cad construction, pmi, gd&t, and product design.
- experience with change management processes (ncm/acm).
- supplier interaction for costing and project coordination.
- knowledge of manufacturing feasibility, tooling, and proto/hardware build phases.
- familiarity with documentation processes (freigabe, ec, dialog).
- experience in va/ve (value analysis & engineering).
- 5–8 years of relevant experience in biw/automotive product development.
qualification
- bachelor’s/master’s in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
- preferred: exposure to global oem workflows, daimler methodologies, and certifications in cad, gd&t, or project management.
