overview : an anaesthesia technician is a healthcare professional who assists the anaesthesia provider in administering anaesthesia and monitoring patients during procedures. they are responsible for preparing and maintaining anaesthesia equipment and supplies, monitoring patient vital signs, assisting with tasks like incubation, and ensuring patient safety. this role requires knowledge of anaesthesia techniques, instruments, and technology, and technicians often work in operating rooms, icus, and other clinical areas.

key responsibilities

equipment management: sterilize, maintain, and resupply anesthesia equipment and carts. check and replace gas tanks, and disinfect machines after use.

procedure assistance: set up equipment and supplies before procedures, and assist the anesthesia provider with tasks during the procedure, such as holding masks or handing equipment.

patient support: help move patients and provide comfort before and after anesthesia. reassure patients during the process.

monitoring and maintenance: monitor patient vital signs and ensure equipment is functioning correctly. assist in preparing medication and may respond to emergency codes.
