Anaesthesia Technician

Overview :  An anaesthesia technician assists anaesthesiologists and nurse anaesthetist in surgical and other procedures by preparing, setting up, and maintaining anaesthesia equipment and supplies. Key duties include monitoring patient vital signs during procedures, cleaning and sterilizing equipment, stocking supplies, and providing support during emergencies. The role requires technical, clerical, and patient care skills to ensure a safe and effective process for the patient and the medical team.

Core responsibilities

Equipment and supply management:

Set up, test, and maintain anaesthesia machines and monitors.

Stock and maintain inventory of supplies, including oxygen and other gases.

Clean, disinfect, and sterilise equipment before and after use.

Ensure all equipment is functioning properly and ready for use.

Procedure support:

Assist anaesthesiologists with the administration of anaesthesia.

Monitor patient vital signs such as heart rate and blood pressure.

Help with patient preparation, positioning, and transport.

Provide support during patient recovery, such as assisting with waking the patient up.
