Roles & Responsibilities of a General DentistPatient Examination & DiagnosisConduct oral examinations to assess the health of teeth, gums, and mouth.Diagnose dental issues such as cavities, gum disease, infections, and oral abnormalities.Treatment Planning & CareDevelop and implement treatment plans tailored to patient needs.Provide preventive, restorative, and cosmetic dental treatments.Dental ProceduresPerform procedures like fillings, root canals, extractions, crowns, bridges, and dentures.Administer anesthesia and ensure patient comfort during procedures.Preventive Dentistry & EducationEducate patients on oral hygiene practices, diet, and preventive care.Provide professional cleanings and preventive treatments (e.g., fluoride applications, sealants).Emergency Dental CareAddress urgent dental problems such as toothaches, trauma, or infections.Record Keeping & DocumentationMaintain accurate and detailed patient records, treatment notes, and dental histories.Infection Control & SafetyFollow strict sterilization and infection control protocols.Ensure compliance with dental safety regulations and clinic standards.Collaboration & ReferralsCoordinate with dental specialists (orthodontists, oral surgeons, periodontists) when needed.Work with dental assistants, hygienists, and administrative staff to ensure smooth operations.
