Understand basic Bill of Materials (BOM) and how products are built from many parts.Read and follow assembly structures to know how parts fit together.Use a CAD software (computer design program) to create and edit simple 3D models.Choose the right parts and materials for a design.Talk with suppliers in India and China to order custom-made parts.Work with the production team to make sure designs can be built.Check drawings and designs for mistakes before sending them to manufacturing.Help improve existing products to make them easier to build.Communicate clearly with engineers, managers, and suppliers.Keep design files organised and updated.

Conduct research into the feasibility, design, operation and performance of mechanisms, components and systemsPlan and manage projects, and prepare material, cost and timing estimates, reports and design specifications for machinery and systemsDesign power plants, machines, components, tools, fixtures and equipmentAnalyze dynamics and vibrations of mechanical systems and structuresSupervise and inspect the installation, modification and commissioning of mechanical systems at construction sites or in industrial facilitiesDevelop maintenance standards, schedules and programs and provide guidance to industrial maintenance crewsInvestigate mechanical failures or unexpected maintenance problemsPrepare contract documents and evaluate tenders for industrial construction or maintenanceSupervise technicians, technologists and other engineers and review and approve designs, calculations and cost estimates.

Designing and planning: Developing detailed structural designs and plans for structures like buildings, bridges, roads, tunnels, towers, airports, and dams, Analyzing: Performing structural analysis and calculations to assess the stability, integrity, and load-bearing capacity of structures Selecting materials: Choosing appropriate building materials and processes for structural designs Identifying risks: Identifying and mitigating potential design risks Structural design engineers should have a strong technical background in structural design, knowledge of construction materials and methodologies, and proven drafting skills. They should also have excellent mathematical, IT, and analytical skills, and good attention to detail.
