Job Summary:
The Production Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the entire production process, from planning and scheduling to execution and quality control. This role involves optimizing workflows, improving efficiency, implementing lean manufacturing principles, troubleshooting production issues, and ensuring that production targets are met while maintaining high quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities:
Production Planning & Control: Develop and implement daily/weekly/monthly production plans and schedules to meet demand forecasts. Monitor production progress against targets and adjust plans as needed.
Process Optimization: Analyze existing production processes to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement. Design and implement new processes or optimize current ones to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve quality.
Quality Assurance: Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to ensure products meet defined quality standards and specifications. Implement and monitor in-process quality checks and work on root cause analysis for defects.
Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement: Drive and champion lean manufacturing initiatives (., 5S, Kaizen, Six Sigma) to eliminate waste, improve flow, and foster a culture of continuous improvement on the shop floor.
Troubleshooting & Problem Solving: Identify and resolve production-related issues, equipment malfunctions, and process deviations promptly. Implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
Resource Management: Optimize the utilization of resources including manpower, machinery, materials, and utilities to maximize output and minimize costs.
Safety & Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to all safety regulations, industrial standards, and company policies within the production area. Promote a safe working environment.
Equipment Management: Oversee the proper operation, maintenance, and calibration of production machinery and equipment. Coordinate with the Maintenance department for repairs and preventive maintenance.
Data Analysis & Reporting: Collect, analyze, and interpret production data to identify trends, measure performance (KPIs), and prepare comprehensive reports for management.
Team Leadership & Training: Provide technical guidance and support to production supervisors and operators. Assist in training new staff on production procedures and safety protocols.
Cost Reduction: Identify opportunities for cost reduction in production through process optimization, material efficiency, and energy conservation.
Inter-departmental Coordination: Liaise effectively with other departments such as R&D, Quality, Supply Chain, and Maintenance to ensure smooth production flow and timely delivery.
