an air traffic controller is responsible for safely and efficiently managing aircraft movements in the airspace and on the ground. they communicate with pilots to provide instructions, clearances, and information to ensure the safe separation of aircraft.

1. monitor and direct aircraft movements using radar, radio communication, and other equipment

2. issue clearances for takeoffs, landings, and taxiing
