Position: Sports Manager
Location: Mumbai

Reporting to: COO
Role Overview:
The Sports Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing all sporting
activities, operations, and logistics. This includes managing teams/staff, overseeing budgets
and schedules, and ensuring compliance with governing bodies and organizational policies.
Key Responsibilities:
Administration & Compliance
∙Maintain records and approvals related to sports sections.
∙Ensure all activities comply with statutory regulations and internal policies.
∙Review and update SOPs/checklists regularly.
∙Coordinate and oversee press conferences related to sporting events.
Operations & Program Management
∙Oversee daily operations of all sports programs and teams.
∙Coordinate with coaches, athletes, and support staff for effective program delivery.
∙Plan and execute training sessions, matches, and sports events.
∙Develop schedules and maintain a calendar for all sports activities.
∙Ensure implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and checklists
across sports sections.
Budgeting & Resource Allocation
∙Prepare and manage budgets for tournaments, events, and team travel in coordination
with Sports Secretaries.
∙Liaise with the Hon. Secretaries and COO on budget approvals and reports.
∙Maintain inventory records (assets and consumables) for all sports sections.
Facilities & Equipment Management
∙Ensure all playing areas and sports facilities are properly maintained and
housekeeping is up to standard.
∙Supervise preventive maintenance of equipment.
∙Monitor and ensure timely renewal of Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMCs).
Liaison & Communication
∙Maintain close coordination with COO, CEO, Hon. Sports Secretaries, and HODs.
∙Liaise with State and National sports bodies, especially where Bombay Gymkhana is
a member.
∙Communicate weekly reports and schedules in advance to relevant stakeholders.
∙Address and resolve member feedback and complaints courteously and efficiently.
Team & Staff Management
∙Supervise day-to-day functioning of coaches, ground staff, and markers.
∙Support the development and performance of sports staff.
∙Attend or delegate attendance at Sub-Committee meetings, maintain minutes, and
ensure follow-up on actions.
Events, Sponsorship & Member Engagement
∙Drive increased member participation across sports disciplines.
∙Ensure all events run smoothly and in accordance with Gymkhana policies and
statutory norms.
∙Implement sponsor guidelines and ensure compliance during events.
∙Coordinate timely sponsor billing and payment collection.
∙Suggest and implement latest trends and innovations in sports programming.
Travel & Logistics
∙Coordinate travel arrangements for teams touring outside Mumbai or internationally.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
∙Bachelor's degree in Sports Management or related field (Master’s preferred)
∙Minimum 7 – 10 years of experience in sports administration or team management
∙Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
∙Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities
∙Computer literate with familiarity with latest technology
∙Experience with contract negotiations and sponsor relations is a plus point
