As the Civil Engineer / Project Head, you will be responsible for the overall planning, execution, and successful delivery of large-scale civil engineering and construction projects. This leadership role encompasses managing the entire project lifecycle, from initial conceptualization and design coordination to site execution, quality control, budgeting, and client relationship management. You will lead multi-disciplinary teams, ensure adherence to all engineering standards, safety regulations, and project timelines, while driving efficiency and profitability.
Responsibilities
Project Planning & Strategy:
Lead the development of comprehensive project plans, including scope definition, detailed work breakdown structures (WBS), schedules, resource allocation, and realistic budget estimates.
Interpret and review architectural and structural drawings, ensuring constructability and compliance with design intent.
Identify potential project risks, challenges, and dependencies, and develop robust mitigation strategies.
Establish clear project governance, communication protocols, and reporting structures for all stakeholders.
Design & Technical Oversight:
Provide expert civil engineering guidance and technical oversight throughout the project lifecycle.
Review and approve detailed engineering designs, ensuring adherence to relevant Indian Standards (IS codes), local building codes, and best engineering practices.
Coordinate effectively with design consultants, structural engineers, MEP engineers, and other specialists.
Resolve complex technical issues that arise during design or execution phases.
Execution & Site Management:
Oversee all on-site construction activities, ensuring adherence to project specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.
Manage site engineers, supervisors, and labor, ensuring optimal resource utilization and productivity.
Implement effective project control measures to monitor progress, quality, and cost performance.
Conduct regular site inspections and progress reviews.
Manage and coordinate all necessary permits and regulatory approvals.
Financial & Contract Management:
Monitor project expenditures against the budget, track costs, and manage cash flow effectively.
Oversee the procurement of materials, equipment, and sub-contractor services, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.
Manage client billing, vendor payments, and contract variations (change orders).
Ensure project profitability and identify areas for cost optimization.
Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management:
Lead, motivate, and mentor a diverse team of civil engineers, site supervisors, and other project staff.
Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, regulatory bodies, and other key stakeholders.
Serve as the primary point of contact for all project-related communications, providing regular updates to clients and senior management.
Quality & Safety Assurance:
Implement and enforce stringent Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) procedures throughout the project.
Champion a robust safety culture on site, ensuring all safety protocols are strictly followed and conducting regular safety audits.
Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations relevant to the construction industry.
