key responsibilities

installation and maintenance

install electrical and electronic systems, equipment, and wiring based on technical diagrams and blueprints.

perform routine maintenance, inspections, and preventive checks to ensure systems are functioning correctly and to prevent future problems.

repair or replace faulty wiring, components, and equipment using a variety of hand and power tools.

troubleshooting and diagnostics

diagnose malfunctions in electrical and electronic systems using testing devices like multimeters and oscilloscopes.

identify the root cause of a breakdown and determine the most effective way to fix it.

safety and compliance

ensure all work complies with local and national electrical codes and safety regulations.

adhere to safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.

document all maintenance and repair work performed.

technical skills

read and interpret blueprints, schematic diagrams, and technical manuals.

use a variety of tools and equipment safely and effectively.

possess strong problem-solving and analytical skills to resolve complex technical issues.

note: while both roles share many core responsibilities, an iti electrician often focuses more on power systems, wiring, and large-scale installations, whereas an iti electronics mechanic typically specializes in a wider range of electronic devices, circuits, and control systems.
