Key Responsibilities
Prepare and Cook Tandoori Dishes
Grill and roast items such as naan, roti, kebabs, tandoori chicken, paneer, and vegetables in the tandoor oven.
Ensure even cooking and achieve the signature smoky flavor and texture unique to tandoori cuisine.
Marination and Preparation
Prepare and marinate meats, seafood, and vegetables using blends of traditional spices, herbs, and yogurt for the distinct taste and tenderness required in tandoori items.
Monitor marination times for optimal results.
Tandoor Oven Management
Operate, monitor, and maintain the tandoor oven, including temperature regulation and cleanliness.
Regularly clean the tandoor and cooking area to maintain hygiene standards.
Menu Development
Collaborate with head chefs or managers to introduce new tandoori dishes or seasonal specialties.
Innovate with modern variations while maintaining authenticity.
Quality and Presentation
Ensure all dishes consistently meet the established quality, taste, and presentation standards.
Adapt to customer preferences and accommodate dietary restrictions when required.
Inventory and Stock Control
Manage and order ingredients specific to tandoori cooking, including spices, meats, and fresh produce.
Control wastage and portion sizes efficiently.
Team Collaboration and Training
Work with and train junior or assistant chefs in tandoori techniques and safe kitchen practices.
Occasionally supervise or allocate tasks within the kitchen team.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Prior experience as a Tandoor or Tandoori Chef, preferably in a busy restaurant environment.
Thorough understanding of traditional tandoor cooking, marination techniques, and Indian spices.
Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced kitchen.
Attention to detail for maintaining consistency and high quality in food preparation and presentation.
Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and hygiene protocols.
Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.

The position may require physical stamina to handle high-temperature ovens and stand for long durations.
