Reports To: Production Supervisor / Engineering Manager / Programming Lead

Location: Pune, Maharashtra, India (This role is primarily office-based for programming, with regular presence on the factory floor for program testing and optimization.)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and meticulous CNC Router Programmer to join our manufacturing team in Pune. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating, optimizing, and managing programs for multi-axis CNC routing machines to ensure efficient material utilization, high precision, and consistent quality of produced components. This role requires expertise in specialized CAD/CAM software, a deep understanding of routing processes, and strong collaboration with production teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Development & Optimization:

Analyze complex engineering drawings, 2D designs, and 3D models to determine precise routing requirements, including dimensions, tolerances, and surface finishes.

Create and optimize CNC programs (G-code, M-code) for various CNC routing machines using specialized CAD/CAM software (., ArtCAM, VCarve Pro, AlphaCAM, Mastercam, SolidWorks CAM, RhinoCAM, AutoCAD, Fusion 360, etc. – specify relevant software).

Determine and select optimal tooling (router bits, drills, specialized cutters), cutting speeds, feed rates, and depth of cut for diverse materials (., wood, MDF, plywood, acrylic, composites, aluminum sheets).

Generate efficient nesting layouts on raw material sheets/boards to minimize material waste and optimize machine run-time.

Simulation & Validation:

Simulate programs extensively within the CAD/CAM software to verify tool paths, identify potential errors, detect collisions, and ensure error-free and efficient operation before programs are sent to the machine.

Collaborate closely with CNC router operators to test and validate new or modified programs on the machine, making immediate adjustments and refinements as necessary.

Troubleshooting & Process Improvement:

Continuously review and analyze existing programs to identify opportunities for efficiency gains, cycle time reduction, and improved part quality.

Troubleshoot programming-related issues or quality deviations encountered during production runs.

Suggest improvements to routing processes, tooling, fixturing methods, and overall operational efficiency.

Documentation & Data Management:

Create and maintain comprehensive program documentation, setup sheets, tool lists, and operational instructions for machine operators.

Manage and control versions of all CNC router programs, ensuring proper archiving and retrieval.

Maintain a library of material-specific routing parameters and best practices.

Technical Support & Collaboration:

Provide expert technical guidance and support to CNC router operators on program interpretation, machine settings, and troubleshooting.

Work collaboratively with design engineers to ensure designs are manufacturable and optimized for efficient routing.

Stay updated with advancements in routing technology, programming software features, and new material processing techniques.
