The NICU Nurse is responsible for the care of critically ill newborns, including premature and low birth-weight infants. They provide specialized nursing care, closely monitor vital signs, and work closely with neonatologists and pediatricians to ensure timely interventions and continuous support.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide round-the-clock nursing care to neonates admitted in the NICU.
Monitor and document vital signs, oxygen levels, ventilator settings, and IV medications.
Administer medications and feedings as per physicians orders.
Maintain sterile environment and follow infection control protocols strictly.
Assist with procedures such as intubation, surfactant therapy, and lumbar puncture.
Educate and support parents regarding neonatal care, feeding, hygiene, and emotional well-being.
Collaborate with pediatricians, neonatologists, and other healthcare team members.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care.
Handle emergency situations with confidence and act quickly and appropriately.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and nursing audits.
Ensure that medical equipment is properly maintained and functional.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong clinical judgment and attention to detail.
Familiarity with neonatal ventilators, incubators, infusion pumps, and monitors.
Empathy, emotional resilience, and excellent communication skills.
Ability to remain calm in high-pressure environments.
Knowledge of NABH nursing protocols and documentation is a plus.
Shift: Rotational (Day/Night)
