Admission counsellors study the student's family, educational and financial background and advise them to fill in applications to avail benefits. Once completed, these counsellors review the applications and ensure all inserted details are as per the desired college's application norm

The first stage, exploration, involves helping the client examine his or her thoughts and feelings. The second stage, insight, helps clients understand the reasons for these thoughts and feelings. The third stage, action, involves the client making changes.

A counselor must be accessible to clients in order to gain their trust, but perhaps more importantly, a counselor needs to be genuine and empatheticin his or her communication, listening, and professional personal.
