an accountant is responsible for managing financial records, preparing reports, ensuring regulatory compliance, and offering strategic financial advice to businesses or individuals.
key responsibilities:
prepare and examine financial records to ensure accuracy and compliance with uk regulations.
manage month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations and adjustments.
conduct audits and ensure timely financial reporting.
prepare financial statements, forecasts, and budgets to support business planning.
handle tax returns and ensure tax compliance with hmrc regulations.
analyze financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
coordinate with internal and external auditors during financial reviews.
monitor and report on accounting discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
qualifications & skills:
bsc in accounting, finance, or related field; aca, acca, or cima certification is often required.
strong knowledge of uk accounting standards, ifrs and uk tax laws.
proficiency in accounting software (., sage, quickbooks, xero).
excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
