major roles and responsibilities

prepare technical drawings

create detailed 2d and 3d drawings for civil engineering projects using autocad, civil 3d, or other cad software.

interpret engineering plans

understand and translate architectural and civil engineering sketches, notes, and specifications into accurate drawings.

develop site layouts

draft site development plans, including roads, utilities, drainage, grading, and landscaping.

create as-built drawings

update construction drawings based on actual site conditions and modifications after project completion.

support project documentation

maintain drawing records, revisions, and project documentation according to company or industry standards.

coordinate with engineering teams

work closely with civil engineers, architects, and project managers to ensure design accuracy and feasibility.

apply drafting standards

ensure all drawings comply with local, national, and international drafting and engineering standards.

quantity take-offs (qto)

assist in preparing material quantity estimations from drawings to support project costing and planning.

topographic and survey integration

incorporate survey data and topographic maps into civil design plans for accuracy in terrain and elevations.

revise and update drawings

modify existing drawings based on client feedback, design changes, or redlines from engineers.
