core responsibilities

strategic planning and execution: develop and implement production strategies to meet business objectives. this includes creating production schedules, allocating resources, and setting performance targets.

team leadership and management: lead, mentor, and manage a team of production staff, including supervisors, engineers, and operators. this involves hiring, training, performance evaluations, and fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.

process optimization and efficiency: continuously analyze production processes to identify areas for improvement. implement lean manufacturing principles, six sigma methodologies, and other techniques to reduce waste, increase efficiency, and lower production costs.

quality control: oversee the implementation of quality control procedures to ensure all products meet the company's and industry's quality standards. they are responsible for investigating and resolving any production issues or defects.

budget management: develop and manage the production department's budget. monitor expenditures, control costs, and make strategic decisions to ensure the department operates profitably.

supply chain and inventory management: collaborate with the supply chain team to ensure a steady and timely flow of raw materials and components. oversee inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstocking.

health and safety: ensure that all production activities comply with safety regulations and company policies. they are responsible for creating a safe working environment and managing risk.

reporting and analysis: prepare and present regular reports to senior management on production output, key performance indicators (kpis), costs, and progress toward goals.
