The ITI Fitter will be responsible for assembling, installing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical components, machinery, and equipment according to technical drawings and specifications. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical principles, proficiency in using various hand and power tools, and a keen eye for detail to ensure precise fitting and efficient operation. You will play a crucial role in maintaining the operational integrity and efficiency of our plant machinery and fabricated structures.
Key Responsibilities:
Assembly & Installation:
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to understand assembly requirements.
Assemble and fit mechanical parts, components, and sub-assemblies accurately.
Install new machinery, equipment, and structural components following safety protocols and installation guides.
Perform marking, cutting, drilling, tapping, grinding, and other fitting operations on various types of metal and materials.
Ensure precise alignment and fitting of components, often working to tight tolerances.
Maintenance & Repair:
Perform routine preventive maintenance on existing equipment and machinery to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
Inspect machinery and equipment to identify malfunctions, wear and tear, or potential defects.
Troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform necessary repairs, component replacements, or adjustments.
Assist in overhauling and lubricating machines as per maintenance schedules.
Fabrication Support (as applicable):
Assist in the fabrication of metal structures and components by cutting, shaping, and preparing materials for welding or assembly.
Use hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments proficiently (., calipers, micrometers, Vernier calipers, measuring tape).
Quality Control:
Conduct in-process and final inspections of assembled or repaired parts using precision measuring instruments to ensure they meet specified dimensions and quality standards.
Identify and report any non-conformities, defects, or quality issues to the supervisor.
Safety & Housekeeping:
Strictly adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and industrial safety standards, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area around machinery and equipment.
Comply with environmental regulations related to waste disposal.
Collaboration & Documentation:
Collaborate effectively with supervisors, engineers, welders, and other team members to ensure smooth operations and project completion.
Document maintenance and repair activities, filling out check sheets and maintaining accurate records of work performed.
