Recruiter Interview Preparation: Some More Tips and Things
Now see, in an interview, not only questions and answers, there are some other things which matter a lot. So, let me give you some more secret tips, which I have also used myself.
1. Read a little about the company
Friend, do some research about the company before the interview. Read about the website, LinkedIn, or their recent projects. This will let you know what the company does and how you can fit there. The interviewer will also feel that you are really interested.
2. Dress properly
Wear clothes in which you are comfortable and look good too. But do not become too formal or too casual. Smart casual is the best.
3. Maintain balance in conversation
Friend, do not become too personal or too professional in the conversation. Be a little friendly, but within limits. Don't be too chatty or too serious.
4. Prepare something about you
When one is expected to speak about himself/herself, just state your skills, the experience one has gained/gained and why you will be the reasonable candidate to the given job. Nevertheless, do not provide it with a standard answer and describe it using conversational style.
5. Be not afraid to pose questions
During an interview, you need to pose questions other than answers. Prepare some intriguing questions regarding the company, the team, or the job position. It indicates that you care about what you are listening to.
6. Posture and self-confident manners
Whichever the location of the interview is, observe your body language. Talk confidently, look straight, and be attentive. These are very small but significant matters.
7. Bring in your resume and portfolio
The interviewer can talk to you concerning your resume, or certain projects. Hence, have your resume and portfolio prepared either in hard copy or on the soft copy in laptop.
8. Leave something memorable in the conversation
The interviewer talks to many people. So, say something in the conversation that he will remember—a unique experience, an interesting idea, or something that makes you special.
9. Thank you and follow up
After the interview, send a small thank you message or email. This improves your image even more and the interviewer remembers your name.
10. Do not talk negatively
You should never speak negatively about your former boss or fellow employees no matter how casual the environment can be. Avoid this.
11. Talk about salary expectations only when asked
Do not bring up this topic yourself. Tell only when the interviewer asks.
12. Be prepared for cafe or video call
If the interview is in a cafe, then keep your money too. Sometimes the interviewer picks up the bill, but you should be prepared. If it is a video call, check the background and connectivity.
