Job Description:
Manages database administration activities in support of on-going operations. In charge of routine support activities. Involved in scheduling jobs, monitoring jobs, and processes. Database administration position involving management of multiple databases in a highly dynamic environment. Work as part of a team in support of operational and project activities related to business systems of major telecommunication service provider. Provide advanced technical and operational support to other departments and teams in support of our clients business objectives. Provide 24x7 on call support as part of a scheduled rotation with other team members Provide advanced technical troubleshooting for applications and database systems Provide advanced technical support for database related project activities Participate in design and application review sessions Build and modify systems and database to meet project requirements Perform installs and upgrades of software and other applications Perform installations and upgrades of third party software used in database operations
Required Qualifications:
At least 3 years relevant experience required. Previous experience in an HP-UX or Sun Solaris Oracle environment Proven competence with most Oracle commands and utilities such as exp, imp, sql loader, etc. Familiarity with basic database administration tasks such as hot and cold backups, database recovery, tablespace additions, etc. Ability to write sql and pl/sql and knowledge of packages, procedures, functions, triggers, etc. Experience with database monitoring and tuning tools such as EM, Dbtuner, and Spotlight. Solid experience with the Unix operating system and command set as well as competence with shell scripting 2-4 years in an HP-UX or Sun Solaris environment 2-4 years as a database administrator working with Oracle Experience in a large, 24x7 environment Experience with very large databases.
