CARE is one of the world`s leading humanitarian organizations fighting global poverty. CARE helps over 6.5 million individuals in over 100,000 villages across India. CARE`s projects in India are currently in the sectors of health, nutrition, HIV/AIDS, social and focus our poverty fighting efforts on the most vulnerable population groups, primarily women and girls. CASHE (Credit & Savings for Household Enterprise) is CARE India`s large scale micro finance programme under which it proposes to setup a Disaster Loan Fund (DLF) in response to the Tsunami for South Asia region to respond to both short and long term needs of Micro Finance Institutions (MFIs) serving the affected communities. DLF will provide grants and concessional loans to MFIs to bridge liquidity crunches and strengthen MFIs capacity to assist in the economic rehabilitation of affected communities.
