Job Description

Orthodontist for a leading private dental care provider in Ghana

The Orthodontist is the senior most specialist in the Practice and is in charge of oversight of clinical practices,regulatory compliance, safety and standards of care, and shall be responsible for the clinical administration.

The Orthodontist heads and directly supervises the Dental Assistants as well as provides clinical direction to the entire clinical staff.

Summary of duties:

1. Examine patients to assess abnormalities of jaw development, tooth position, and other dental-facial structures.

2 Work according to American and European Orthodontic system;

Train Orthodontic Assistants on orthodontic procedures

Directing Orthodontic Assistant on orthodontic procedures

Promoting positive Orthodontic Assistant and Patient relationship

Keeping patient records for Orthodontic Assistant to follow

3. Examine mouth, teeth, gums, or related facial structures.

4. Study diagnostic records, such as medical or dental histories, plaster models of the teeth, photos of a patient's face and teeth, and X-rays, to develop patient treatment plans.

5. Analyze patient data to determine patient needs or treatment goals.

6. Provide patients with proposed treatment plans and cost estimates.

7. Communicate detailed medical information to patients or family members.

8. Prepare diagnostic and detailed treatment records.

9. Record patient medical histories.

10. Design and fabricate appliances, such as space maintainers, retainers, and labial and lingual arch wires.

11. Design medical devices or appliances.

12. Fabricate medical devices.

13. Fit dental appliances in patients' mouths to alter the position and relationship of teeth and jaws or to realign teeth

14. Bonding of dental devices ( braces) or appliances to ensure fit.
