Description of the position
Applications are invited for 12 to 14 months postdoctoral position starting from August 2015 to conduct research into the role of sustainability science in Coastal Ecosystem Management. The aim of the position is to study and conduct research addressing anthropogenic activities on coastal resources by applying principles of sustainability science in an ecosystems approach to management. The proposed approach will have specific focus on groundwater, agriculture and land use change along with socio-economic data integration into the GIS platform using remote sensing techniques towards integrated Coastal Ecosystem Management. The candidate will be engaged to work on a nationally significant project, which will involve collaboration with colleagues at the CESAR and other Research Centers and Colleges within Sultan Qaboos University.
Qualifications:
PhD in Coastal zone management / environmental science / Geography or related discipline and 3-5 years relevant post doctoral experience.
Knowledge of sustainability science, adaptive management, environmental decision making and public participation.
