Job Description

The Wildlife Institute of India (WII) is a premier autonomous Institute under the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Government of India, in the field of wildlife research, teaching and training. The Institute invites application from the Indian nationals for the following research personnel, through a Qualifying test followed by Interview(s).

Essential Qualification : Masters’ Degree in Wildlife Science/ Forestry/ Life Science/ Environmental Sciences or management/ Ecology, Environment and Sustainable Development/ Political sciences/ Statistics/ Anthropology/ Sociology/ Social Science/ Economics or related subjects from a recognized university and minimum one year work experience in similar field.

Desirable Qualification : >1 year experience of working on community participation in natural resource management, protected area – people interface, socioeconomic surveys or any aspects of human dimension in wildlife conservation.

Description of work : The study involves in examining the patterns of interaction between the local communities and the protected areas with reference to resource dependency and human wildlife conflict so as to develop site-specific strategies for aligning local peoples’ livelihood with conservation priorities of Kaziranga Tiger Reserve.

The Institute is looking for bright candidates for filling up of Group-A Scientific 05 (five) positions of ‘Scientist-C’ on Direct Recruitment (D.R.) basis. The applications are invited from citizens of India for filling up of the following posts:
Qualification : Master Degree in Wildlife Science/Life Sciences/Computer Science/Veterinary Sciences with 03 (THREE) years experience in wildlife research. OR Ph.D. in any of above fields with 01 (ONE) year experience in the above field.
Age: Not exceeding 31 years in case of candidates possessing Master’s degree and 34 years in case of candidates having Ph.D. degree as on last date of receipt of application.
