Job Description

The Wildlife Institute of India (WII) is a premier autonomous Institute under the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Government of India, in the field of wildlife research, teaching and training. The Institute invites application from the Indian nationals for the following research personnel, through a Qualifying test followed by Interview(s).

Essential Qualification : Masters’ Degree in Social Sciences or related subjects with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks from a recognized University.

Desirable Qualification : Candidate(s) with prior experience in designing, conducting and analysing socioeconomic surveys are preferred. Experience of working in conservation field would be preferred. Should be able to undertake arduous field work under rigorous conditions.

Description of work : The work involves developing village-level database of human, livestock populations along with conflict information. The project aims to find threshold values of human population, road density and habitat transformation parameters for coexistence with humans for the different large carnivore species. Evaluating effectiveness and applicability of mitigation measures is part of the project.
