Job Description

The Wildlife Institute of India (WII) is a premier autonomous Institute under the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Government of India, in the field of wildlife research, teaching and training. The Institute invites application from the Indian nationals for the following research personnel, through a Qualifying test followed by Interview(s).

Essential Qualification : Masters’ Degree in Wildlife Science/ Botany/ Zoology/ Forestry/ Life Science/ Agriculture/ Environmental Sciences with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks from a recognized University.

Desirable Qualification : Candidate(s) with prior experience in sampling design and animal abundance estimation are preferred. Prior experience of sampling using camera trapping, distance sampling and radio-telemetry. Knowledge of GIS and GPS is desirable. Should be able to undertake arduous field work under rigorous conditions.

Description of work : The work involves field monitoring of tiger, co-predators and their prey with techniques such as camera-trapping, distance sampling and radio-telemetry in TATR, Pench TR, NNTR, Melghat TR, Bor TR, Umred WLS and Tippeshwar WLS. The objectives of this study include demographic trends of carnivores and prey species, dispersal and movement ecology of tigers.

Qualification : Master Degree in Wildlife Science/Life Sciences/Computer Science/Veterinary Sciences with 03 (THREE) years experience in wildlife research. OR Ph.D. in any of above fields with 01 (ONE) year experience in the above field.
Age: Not exceeding 31 years in case of candidates possessing Master’s degree and 34 years in case of candidates having Ph.D. degree as on last date of receipt of application.
