Assist the physician during invasive and noninvasive procedures to treat cardiac and peripheral vascular disease and cardiac arrhythmias.

Perform Basic diagnostic catheterization procedures on adult patients with known and suspected congenital and acquired cardiac and peripheral vascular disease. Basic interventional procedures which may include any of the following: PTCA, stent prep and placement, IABP placement and operation. Basic EP procedure may include any of the following; EP studies, implantation of pacemaker, ICD, BIV ICD and ablations.

Prepare the patient for procedures. Room preparation and breakdown to include stocking rooms, daily QC checks and room cleanup. Prepare sterile procedure tray and patient sterile field appropriately for specified procedure type.

Evaluate the status of the patient during the procedure; provide age and gender specific care, prep access site according to lab standard practice, and perform EKG lead placement, blood pressure and pulse oximetry setup for hemodynamic monitoring.

Physiological monitoring of patients during procedure and Complete all relevant documents and check the records. Preparing the report on the procedure findings.

Use imaging equipment to help the doctor detect and treat any heart and blood vessel issues in the patient. Be familiar with the differences from a normal image and an abnormal unicate with the doctor the result of the image.

Obtains supplies for individual cases and ensures all appropriate needs of the Cardiac Cath Laboratory team are met. Observe occupational and radiation safety regulations (wearing badges, lead aprons, goggles, gloves)

Educate the patient of procedure expectations before, during and after the procedure including post-procedural limitations and restrictions. Participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities. Implementation of infection control practices.
