Qualification : Category I – From Mariners with Ph.D (a) Master (Foreign Going) Certificate of Competency with a minimum Sailing experience of six months at Management level within the meaning of STCW convention in force; and (b) A Ph.D. Degree in a relevant discipline offered by IMU or by any University recognised by IMU. Provided that for recruitments made till 31.12.2017, the Extra Master Certificate of Competency obtained prior to 1.1.2014 shall be treated as equivalent to Ph.D for recruitment purposes only; and (c) A minimum of fifteen years of experience in Maritime industry in one or more of the following areas: (i) Sailing experience at Management level [beyond the prescribed minimum of six months indicated in (a) above], (ii) Teaching Nautical Science in a recognised maritime institution, (iii) Nautical Surveyor in Directorate General of Shipping or in any recognized Classification Society. (iv) Technical Superintendent in any reputed Ship-owning or Ship-managing company. (v) Pilot in a Major Port, (d) Evidence of published work with a minimum of 3 publications as books and/or research/policy papers in refereed journals. Desirable: Guidance of students at P.G or Ph.D level. [or] Category II – From Associate Professors with Ph.D (a) Ph.D degree in the relevant discipline offered by IMU or any University recognized by IMU; and (b) Four years of experience as Associate Professor in Nautical Science in IMU or any University recognized by IMU. (c) Evidence of published work with a minimum of 10 publications as books and/or research/policy papers in refereed journals.
Desirable: Guidance of students at P.G or Ph.D level.
Age Limit : Not exceeding 58 years. (Relaxable by Vice Chancellor up to 2 years in deserving cases).
